Bruno Trigo Gonçalves, aka Phoebe, is a producer, DJ, founder of the label/collective Troublemaker Records, and part of the core team of Rádio Quântica – itself a reflection of the programmatic nature of the new generation of artists in Lisbon. Simplicity does not live here, but rather an intense mixture does, not only of musical references, but also personal ones; this gives this music a truly intimate charge, even when the explosions hit us in an austere way.
With his third EP (if i was simple in the mind, everything would be fine (Rotten \ Fresh, 2021) – successor to Affection (Troublemaker Records, 2019) and Living On Valued Energy (Quântica, 2020) – Phoebe once again exposes an expanding artistic and musical mind, not limited to rigid stylistic boundaries that blunt the most creative impulses. This permanent stylistic and sound mutation is, therefore, not simple to map, but it is precisely from this frustration with the most basic that the most urgent music emerges.
